Throughout the northern half of Alberta, there are numerous Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) and other In-Situ projects on small and very large scales. All are required to meet the environmental noise criteria from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Directive 038 and the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Rule 012 (those with power generation).
Within the past 15 years ACI has worked on more than 100 SAGD and In-Situ related noise projects. For each project, a computer noise model is generated based on the proposed site layout, noise producing equipment, buildings, tanks, well-pad configuration, and area topography. In addition, if required, noise contributions from other nearby facilities are included.
ACI has a vast library of SAGD and In-Situ related noise sources for equipment such as Once Through Steam Generators (OTSGs), aerial coolers, compressors, well-pad piping, pump-jacks, etc. and has conducted many post-commissioning noise studies to verify noise modeling results.
In addition to noise impact assessments, ACI has the equipment and expertise to conduct Comprehensive Sound Level (CSL) surveys and long term noise monitorings from several days up to several months and even permanent installations.
